Frequently asked questions

Does the order of dates matter?

No — the difference is always positive and identical in both directions.

Are leap years handled?

Yes. Days are counted between UTC midnights, so leap days and month lengths are exact.

Is the end date included in the count?

No. The calculator counts the days between the two dates, so Monday to the following Monday is 7 days. To count both the first and the last day — for a booking or a leave request — add 1, or use the Business Days Calculator, which counts both ends.

How do I get the number of days between two dates in a spreadsheet?

Subtract the earlier date from the later one. With the dates in A1 and B1, =B1-A1 returns the number of days (format the result cell as a number) — the same total this calculator shows.

Examples

How many days are there from 1 January 2026 to 25 December 2026?
358 days — 51 weeks and 1 day (51.14 weeks), or 11 months and 24 days.
How long is it from 14 February 2010 to 23 September 2026?
16 years, 7 months and 9 days: 6,065 days in total, or 866.43 weeks.
What is the difference between 31 January and 28 February 2026?
Exactly 1 month (28 days). February has no 31st, so a month counted from 31 January ends on the last day of February.
