Frequently asked questions
Are the start and end dates included?
Yes. A single weekday therefore counts as exactly one business day, and a Mon–Fri week equals five business days.
Can I use a different weekend, like Friday–Saturday?
Yes — tap any weekday chip to define which days are non-working before counting.
What if a holiday falls on a weekend?
Weekend holidays are reported separately and never subtracted twice from the business-day total.
How do I count business days in a spreadsheet?
Use NETWORKDAYS(start, end, holidays) in Excel or Google Sheets — like this calculator, it counts both the start and the end date. NETWORKDAYS.INTL lets you choose a different weekend.
Examples
- How many business days are in October 2026?
- 22. October 2026 has 31 days, and 9 of them fall on a Saturday or Sunday.
- How many business days are in December 2026 if 25 and 26 December are holidays?
- 22. The month has 23 weekdays. 25 December is a Friday and comes off; 26 December is a Saturday, already a weekend day, so it is not subtracted twice.
- How many business days are in 2026?
- 261 Monday-to-Friday days: 365 days minus 104 weekend days. Subtract the public holidays that fall on weekdays where you work.
