Frequently asked questions
Why must oven temperature be lowered for an air fryer?
Air fryers are compact high-velocity convection ovens. The intense fan and proximity to the heating element cooks food significantly faster, so dropping the temperature by 15°C (25°F) prevents burning the outside before the interior cooks.
Do I need to preheat an air fryer?
Most modern air fryers preheat in 2-3 minutes. While foods like bacon do not require preheating, preheating is recommended for steaks, chops, and baked goods.
How do you reheat pizza in an air fryer?
Reheat leftover pizza at 180°C (350°F) for 3 to 5 minutes. The crust returns to pizzeria-level crispness without drying out the melted cheese.
Examples
- Oven recipe calls for 200°C for 25 minutes.
- In an air fryer, cook at 185°C for 20 minutes, shaking or flipping at 10 minutes.
