Frequently asked questions

What is 350°F in Celsius?

350°F is 177°C for a conventional oven — recipes usually round it to 180°C — and about 157°C for a fan-assisted/convection oven (160°C on the dial). It is British Gas Mark 4.

How do you adjust temperature for a fan oven?

Reduce the conventional recipe temperature by about 20°C (36°F): the fan keeps hot air moving over the food, so it cooks just as well at a lower setting. Many US convection ovens suggest a smaller 25°F reduction — if your oven’s manual gives a figure, use it.

Examples

What is 400°F in Celsius?
400°F is 204°C — recipes usually round it to 200°C — about 184°C in a fan oven (180°C on the dial), and Gas Mark 6.
